I sometimes add AQ to my aquarium after water changes, my aro and pbass never had a problem and seem to be doin fine. Infact i just did a WC and added some salt about 10 mins ago.

I agree, they will like the salt more than the parasites, although I don't add salt unless it is necessary

If you have scaleless fish be careful using a lot of ich meds because in the fine print, many say "do not use on scaleless fish".

Even if it doesn't say it, most will tell you to use 1/2 dose. Same with salt.

HOWEVER, there is a med that I would recommend because another fishkeeper used it and it worked wonders. I tried it and it worked too. Its called Ich Attack by Kordon. It mentions that its organic and will not hurt your fish. I tried it myself and it really works. Me and that other fishkeeper tried double dose and it cleared the ich. I tried normal dose and didn't see good results but the doube dose worked perfectly. I used this on my catfish.

I have tried Quick Cure and Rid Ich and would not use them on catfish. When I used the Quick Cure, my catfish started acting funny so I quickly did a 75% water change and put carbon in. For Rid Ich, you have to dose 1/2 strength because my cats did not act right when I used full dose.

Ich Attack is the only one that my cats responded to ok and even at double dose which helped cure the ich, my catfish are ok.

there is some good info and in depth info on ich in the http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20681
read that and you will learn all you need to know, a quick run down, just raiseing temp will do it alone, salt helps but you need to adjust the treatment to what kinda fish you have.

totally agree...read this thread..it worked on my clown loaches...i'll never use ick meds again ;)

I upped the temp to about 84 and added salt. I did a water change the following day to get the ick out of the gravel. It seemed to be clearing up. I looked in today, and now my silver molly is covered in it. The temp was down to 80 degrees so I upped it a bit again. I didn't add salt this time. I have catfish and pleco in there. I added copper safe, but not an entire dose. It is a 30 long, so I added enough for 20 gallon. I will do another gravel clean tomorrow and check the parameters again. I guess I better keep the temp up to 84 or so for awhile. I worry that the catfish and pleco can't stand the hotter temp. The catfish looked a little slugish before I did the first water change...

Plan...Keep temp up to 84 until second week in April if the corys, pleco and otos will handle it. Add 1/2 doses of salt to water changes and do a 25% w/c and gravel clean every other day.

If I check the params, will the meds alter the results?

I put in salt at a little more then half dose, upped the temp to 82 and nothing is happening but the ick is getting worse on one of the fish. I have already added copper safe a few days ago, and did a 25% water change and gravel cleaned yesterday. Should I be changing the water more? I really don't want my fish to die on me. The one fairing the worst is a silver lyretail molly male.

I can't up the temp anymore then it is. The heater is at maximum and isn't making it hotter. Should I add another heater to compensate until they are better? It is a 30 gallon long tank.

i have gotten ick a cpl time and just did last week, raise the temp and add salt is the best way, ever since i have done this i have yet to loss a fish as long as u catch it ahead of time

read this thread and you will know everything you need to know on ick and how to get ride of it, good luck

how are they doing?

They are still hanging in there, but I am worried about the silver molly. I will keep up the water temp and salt and hope for the best. Thanks
