If you have ever opened a a fluval canister filter they come with a foam pre filter that should be plenty to keep the media clean enough. Though I still recommend floss before the bio .KaiserSousay;3350938; said:Not pointing a finger at you..Honest
I have seen this suggestion way beyond just a few times.
I just don`t get how to set a canister up as a "BIO" only filter.
Sure, if you don`t mind your media getting all gunked up,
With the media slowly losing it`s effectiveness as it`s surface gets covered in goo.
In my mind(I know it`s around here, somewhere)that would be a waste of a fairly expensive piece of equipment.
On my 90 I run my two canisters but I also keep an AC110 running so I can pop in and out bags of carbon and my purigen. Forgot who mentioned that but ive had much success with it !
