Best monster fish with character?

Anableps (four-eyed fish) are brackish fish.

There would probably be a cool brackish 200 gallon with a shoal of anableps, archer fish and Chromide cichlids.

First of all I think this is a good post and a good question. It's pretty amazing that many say the arowana. Who would have thought?
To me, what is most interesting is a group or pair of fish that get along and interact. My two oscars are interesting but my 2 pbass are also interesting. Watching the big bass come up and mouth the smaller one. Sometimes pushing her to the top. Or her resting her tail on him when the sleep.
The smaller one energetically rushing out to see me. The larger one then comes out in apparently jealousy and to see whats going on (feeding?).
But back to the point, I like the question because I like the "wet pets". I don't have room for a bunch of huge tanks so my wife and I enjoy the personalities of the "few". I have grown to agree with having just a few fish in a big tank. But if they didn't have personality it would be a drag.

I'm also just going the throw this out. It may be unbelievable but it happened to us. I have 3 silver dollars about 8 years old. They get along great and breed all the time. Once while cleaning and doing a water change one hit the glass real hard and then layed on the bottom in a corner.
I though it was gonna die.
The other 2 stayed right by this fish at the bottom. Finally the fish came to (about 5 minutes) and was ok. So I love these fish and it will hurt when they die. Do they feed out of my hand like and oscar? No. But they are great fish.

Tbh which fish you guys would never get bored of to see, interact with and feed.
Pulcher datnoides....the true Siamese Tiger.I've had a few and they were quite responsive to my actions.

What size tank is needed for a STF?
A full grown ST should do well in a 300.They are more active than most other dats, they move around the tank quite a bit and they can max out at close to thirty inches.

And what size tank is needed for a silver arowana?

Oscars, flowerhorns, and mbu puffers are among my favorites when it comes to "monster" fish, but blood parrots, rainbow fish, and goldfish are some other fish with personality.

It is said that a silver aro can reach lengths of 30”+ so you would typically need a footprint of at least 8-10x4-5 imo. Some people don’t care if your fish has a decent turning radius, but I think we should give them at least that decency. Not sure how long it takes for a silver to get to those sizes but if you look into the arowana section you will be able to see some of their care sheets etc.

Pacu are extremely interactive and personable. They are extremely curious about the world inside and outside of their tank. They are entertained watching the goings on outside of their tank. They will push each other out of the way so they can be petted. They are the labrador retrievers in the fish world. They are wonderful fish, but they are special needs fish. They do require very large housing and 30+ year commitment in order to live to their full potential life span.
