Best pellet and size to train?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My indos were quite small when I got them started and my silver is even smaller then they were.I use the Hiakari sinking cichlid pellets for the indos and Hikari sinking carnivore for the silver.

So I've got the cichlid gold pellets and have starved them for about 1 1/2 weeks, one of them are looking good but the other one is looking quite skinny...

I feel I should continue and he should give in soon!
what do you guys think? they are around 2 inch or so.

I have a dat around 4 inch or so in my other tank that takes pellets, good idea to introduce him back into this grow out tank? I moved him last time cuz he was bullying the other 2 and now one is dominating and bullying the other one... lol

I mix in a tub, carnivore , massive, sinking cichlids gold and algea waiver.

Then throw in the mix daily for feeding... maximum pellet nutrition.

2 inch is small.. I have a 2 ich ntt , not eat prawns or pellets for 4 weeks!!! Its tummy was literally 3 mm thin. I gave him prawn and will let him get to 4 inch before starving again.

6 weeks is usually conversion point, but this thinbar was thin to start with.

I have one 4.5 indo on week 3 :not eaten yet. But he is still healthy....he will crack in another 3 weeks. I hope....

Plenty of time to pellet train, tigers live a long time....

Yeah, thats what im thinking too... maybe fatten him up again before trying again... but i'm already 1-2 weeks into it, might aswell hold on for another week or so?

Yeah i'm going to mix the golds with some prima, maybe a a tiny amount of bloodworm also to get them going.

All my large ones take pellet and a few of my smaller ones take it and they did as soon as it hit the tank but i have 2 that go to take it but then dont but they are still small just be carefull with starving them as im sure you would rather a dat that only eats fresh food rather than no dat at all.

The little ones are starting to "look" and take interest in the pellets...
so I think i'm getting to breaking them very soon!

I think I will continue for a few more days then give them a little food just to keep them going and continue maybe. Or I might just continue starving until they eat.
