You already heard it plenty but Ken Davis at fish farm and Jeff Rapps at tangledupincichlids!

OP, it's worth a drive to Virginia Beach if you get a chance. Check out Animal Jungle on Holland Rd. If you ever wonder what stock they have in just send me a PM and I'll check it out.

thnx for all the help guys, sounds like the jeff rapps guy is the way to go. :)

I'd say the vendors and hobbyists here on MFK. I've bought a lot of fish from Ken, Jeff and most recently, Ira. it all boils down to who has what you want, when you want it. I will say this though; ever since I started buying from Ira he's become the 'go to guy' for my fish. He's the only vendor with a wide variety of adult/sub adult, wild and f1 fish. I've bought bonded and spawning pairs of hard to find species and been very pleased. Also, can't say I miss growouts since I now have more fry than I know what to do with.

I just bought from Ira. He is my go to guy when I need to re-stocking. He has a great selection of Ca and SA, good price. He is such a good person.

I would go with Ira also. He's here on the forum and he's a good guy too. If he doesn't have what you're looking for I also order from Rapps.

I wouldn't just pick one guy and have to order from him. Look at all of the ones mentioned and see who has what you want and who has the best prices.

I order from several different people and have had mostly good results from most of them. A lot of my fish are from Ken becuase he hooks me up with some really nice stuff when he gets new spawns, new fish in, or gets back from collecting. Plus his shipping is by far the cheapest for me. If you are in NC he can ship to you really cheaply compared to others.

With that said Jeff has a larger stock list and if Ken doesn't have what you want I would check there next.

If you want larger fish such as pairs or adults I would check with Ira as he always seems to have more 5"+ pairs then anyone and all of his customers seem very happy with there fish.

Like I said before, search around for the best deal. Find what you want make sure the person has positive reviews and you will be happy with your order.

Jeff Rapps and Ken Davis are members and big supporters of the American Cichlid Association and have been so for years. Not only do they donate fish to the auctions, scholarship fundraisers, etc. you can also count on them to attend the annual convention every year and make a big impression in the sales rooms. That's a big plus in my book!

Also, they are always available to answer questions about their stock and don't hesitate to do so here on MFK when asked. Be cautious of any vendor who is evasive or hesitant to answer questions about the origins and specifics of his stock.

Jeff and Ken's pricing also seems to be very competitive since they are usually dealing directly with collectors. Shipping is what can hurt you with any vendor, especially with big fish, so investigate the best options there. Sometimes the best thing to do is to get a group order together!
