are darters cool, aggressive, smart and what do they eat. how big do they get

Darters are cool, some are semi-aggressive with their own species mostly, very smart and interesting to watch. They or at least mine prefer bloodworms, a lot of them have no swim bladder so they just hop around at the bottom mainly and perch on rocks, driftwood etc. like little birds. They are very attentive especially at feeding time. They can wiggle to the top then. Lots of different kinds. some protected and endangered, but a lot of very cool ones are not.

Most bait shops get a little of everything for native, usually fingerlings...in my area they can't sell them but some will give them away.

I find fish farms to be the best for small fish

Thanks. Do you know what type darter it is ?

I would be afraid to just venture a guess without a better pic, it appears though to be 2 different species. Do you have any idea where it came from ? what state, river creek etc/ That would also narrow it down
