best powerhead?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have both the maxi-jet 1200 and the Koralia 4. the Koralia 4 is way better by far!! wayyyy more GPH and its magnetic! its reliable too. the maxi-jet 1200 is noisy and the impeller is crap on it. im too lazy to take a photo but its like getting thinned out by the rotations. maxi jet is good however cuz it has the under gravel filter add on and the bubble maker add on. but even if there was no problems at all with the maxi jet, the koralia 4 would still be better cuz its output is incredible!! 1200GPH!!!!

thanks man...just ordered a koralia 3

good i hope it serves u well!! try not to take it apart, to clean it just hold it upside down under cool water. i took one apart and it wouldn't start up ever again. keep plants and other dangly thin delicate things away from it.

Hagen AquaClear powerheads (all models) have always provided me many years of reliable service. www.BigAlsOnline.com usually has the lowest prices and if not, they'll beat other competitor's online prices. Good luck!

is there a way to make the koralia output bubblies like the powerheads do?

if u incorporated an air line to the intake part it would produce bubbles. but the whole design would have to be modified.

Ecotech marine vortec all the way. They have a wireless wave driver and the mp40w produces from 1,000 to 3000 gph of flow with various settings. I have 2 in my 450 gallon and I have had no problem.

Koralia makes the current more like a wave than aquaclear. I haven't had them for long so can't comment on the reliability but the water movement is awesome and completely silent!
