Best price on large tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
man, you americans and your crazy deals on tanks. CL or local groups are definitely cheapest but even there I pay at least double on a new tank. first world problems right?

If you want to experience a little sticker shock, call around to LFS or big box to see if they will/can order from Aqueon or Marineland. Just as an example, a standard 4ft Aqueon 75g is about $135-150. 6ft 125g are ~$300. From what I've experienced in having tanks ordered, Aqueon has better deals and I like their tanks better.

agree with FreshyFresh... i walk into one of my local pet shop and by their doorway was a brand new Aqueon 125 gallon and i was curious so i asked the sales rep.. it costed $300 mean while i checked craigslist.. just an empty one cost me $300 and i have to drive 30+ miles to pick it up myself.. while the LFS was 5 min drive... i would definltly shop around... don't hesitate to jump right on to a deal that you think is one and go home to realize it isn't....

I noticed that Florida had the best deals on giant fish tanks. It actually lead me to try a insane plan to buy a giant 180 gallon plus tank while in Port Canaveral Florida. And then bring the acrylic monster on board a cruise ship that sails down from Baltimore Maryland in a giant loop. The cost difference of the giant tanks in Florida compared to Virginia are so massive that they could easily surpass the cost of the cruise.

As for why I plan to use the ship instead of driving down to Florida is it's cheaper and faster to take the giant tank on the ship then to rent a U haul.

But have not tried this idea yet even though there is a rule that as long as it fits into your cabin you can take it with you on the ship.

if we are talking about best deals cali blows everything out of the water

180 gallons is not a giant tank. And how would a cruise ship be faster than car taking a more direct route overland?

That's thinking outside of the box!! Let us know if it works

The biggest factor is the weird security and polices in the port that would most likely stop me. I some how don't think I would do this with a giant glass tank due to the massive weight of it and having to carry it at least 1200 feet from the drop off point in the terminals to the truck and the ship.

In terms of carrying giant stuff on cruise ships I have heard that when someone moves from Europe to the United States they will carry all kinds of giant appliances and furniture on board the cruise ship.
