I have never had to trim my fahakas teeth. as long as you keep a good diet of mussels on half shell, frozen shrimp, snails ect, you should never have to trim thier teeth.

I trimmed a fahaka's teeth but it was only fed soft foods & lived it's entire life in a 40g. :(

Thanks for the quick answers, I think i'm going to get a 2-3'' fahaka and put him in a 75 gal by himself at least until he is 10-12''s and then put him in my 4ft 120gal, does this sound ok? and who has these guys for sale small?

From a completely personal standpoint, i would say try and get something bigger than a 125G for a full grown fahaka... i personally just think a 125G should quite literally be the bare minimum for this puffer...

oh ok i have been seeing threads where a 4ftx2' 120gal tank is ok because the width is 24''s , but I have a 125 gal and a 120gal, so not sure

i say the larger the better only because i find an 18" fish in a tank that is 24" front to back and about 48" side to side doesn't seem like a lot of room to me...

But as i said, that is just a personal view of mine, since it seems people have kept fahaka's in these size tanks for life without any problems in the past?

I think even Pufferpunk has Filbert (her fahaka) in a 125G and he seems happy enough?

He is very happy but I'd sooooo much rather have a much larger tank for him. :(
