i moved all plants to a 10g btw

A tablespoon per 5g and you can use table salt just fine. Dissolve it thoroughly and add slowly.

oh cool. how often should i add or do i just do it one time and let it do its thing.....

I just use non- iodized morton salt. Kosher salt etc. I'd also raise your temp into the low to mid 80s assuming you don't normally keep it there. Make sure you have good aeration.

i picked it up last night at 2 am. so how many times do i dose it until i have to do a water change without risk to the water chemistry?

i like to use the Mortan Solar Salt for water softeners. $5 for a 40lb bag. lasts a long time

Just dose it that one time and when you do a water change replace the salt per the gallons you remove.

thanks for the help everyone i am doing as you have said and am crossing my fingers. it sucks because i actually enjoy every fish i have as opposed to just having "fillers" to occupy a specific niche, lol.
