1.009 is what it needs to be to be effective and 6-8 weeks, even when they show no signs of ich, it can still be present in the sand and in the water so give the hypo time to do its job

I have been through the same with my dogface puffer . Hypo worked best .

Does ich show up in Salt/Marine tanks much the same way as fresh water?

yeah pretty much... i think... im not sure... anyway im using kick-ick on a heavy infection (yes he still has it) and it has cleared up nearly completely (only about one or two visible spots left.) so its working great!

i hope he pulls through. be sure to keep the fish isolated for at least 2 weeks after medication to ensure he is up to full strength and what not.

Use Quinine sulfate from www.nationalfishpharm.com. Safe for puffers, takes about 9 days, very effective. I don't use anything else, and run it 24/7 in my holding system.
