Get rid of the sand and put in some gravel. Also put in a couple aqauclear 110's power filters.

Yeah I am supprised no one else is recommending more filtration for a mechanical issue. If you do not want to remove pleco's, add filters that are good for mechanical. FX5 seems like it would be a nice addition on top of what your already working with.

Yeap, up the circulation to get the junk moving, and make sure you keep your mech filters clean.

You can by a big syphon for like $15. I bought one for my 240 and it takes about 10 minutes to get a nice poop free tank
