best sand for rays?

Be careful what pool filter sand you buy, some are too corse for rays.
I had pfs now gone to glass bottom until I find something good, the pfs was wearing down my males claspers as he would go up and down the tank from top to sand. No good at all. I can't find smooth pfs here. It looked great though

I would try go and see and feel the sand before u buy and put it in ur tank.
Make sure it feels smooth, save urself the trouble of puttin it in and takin it out, not to mention the excessive hours of washing u have to do before use, especially if u got a big tank, try not to do it the hard way like me.

Anyone know of a good smooth calcium based sand? I am still not convinced I have found the best sand to use. I want to stick with calcium based as I know my fly river turtle ingests some of the sand and the calcium based sand has not bothered him.

I know it is a risk and I watch them very carefully.

as you are in the UK a good sand gravel mix is unipac tanna you can get it from most maidenhead aquatics some of the over sands mentioned stick to the rays disk i took advice and it stuck to the rays disk bad and left it in the tank for 18 months then did the hard bit of taking out 125kg of bd trading sand

the unipac stuff is a bit more expencive but worth the money im very happy with mine

people say this or that pool filter sand they are all dirrerent around the would if you buy a branded sand gravel that you know works its much safer

of buy small samples of each feel it if its shap dont buy it if it sticks to your hand when wet dont buy it

that said ph seams to affect the amount the sand sticks i found if my ph was high the sand sticks more than at a lower ph i maybe wrong it wouldnt be the 1st time
