best sand for sting rays

3m quartz sand or no sand

I use Torpedo Beach from Caribsea. It doesn't compact, it's ray safe, and it requires no maintenance. It doesn't collect detritus. I use it in most of my tanks.

If you or anyone decides to go with the 3M color quartz, i highly recommend the TAN!!

this is my buddy's/supplier's set up...they sell 3M color quarts most of the time.

I love the look of 3M color quartz, but what scares me is that when you rinse it. There is this oily film or residue that is left over. I know if you wash it well, it should be safe. I just rather not take any chances.
