GO TO THE 3M WEB SITE AND LOOK UNDER COLOR QUARTZ SAND. LOOK AT R1 RIDAH'S PICTURES HE HAS DONE TAN WHICH IS WHAT I AM GOING TO DO AND ALSO BLACK.

IT LOOKS REAL GOOD IMO

I cannot navigate 3m's website to find that sand to save my life.

Karma you used pool filter sand? I thought this would scratch the rays, its what I use in my african tank, but it looks like it never needs siphoning.

How do you know if its real dirty underneath or something since you can't just jab it with the siphon or you will get a ton of sand in the bucket.

My rays are fine with it. I never have to siphon my sand since I only have a thin layer in my tank AND the ray shifts through it all the time!

:)

well i saw brents tank as bare bottom and thought that rays look awesome on bb. Well my wife hates bare bottom and everybody that sees it says it looks like it is missing something. Also i cannot reach the bottom of my tank very easiely and i am getting some algae. I am using 3m now because r1 ridah's looks sweet. THey have some nice colors to choose from.

I dont think it is too abrasive becasue it has a silicone coating on it>?>

Wow sounds great. I already have about a 5th of a bag of pool filter sand leftover from my 55, but I will also probably take a lot out of the 55 since its almost 3 inches deep.

Just out of curiosity do you have to get the 3m sand at a local supplier? Because I went to a Home Depot, Lowe's, Sear's hardware, the Do It center, RP Lumber and a pool store and the only one that had any pool filter sand or sandblasting sand or silica sand was the pool store.
