I've never had a freshwater schooling fish and the only freshwater fish ones that I can think of would be the freshwater sardines of lake Malawi (which I have never owned).
I do like many of the shoaling fish in the hobby and Exodon paradoxus would be my favourite shoaling fish. I had a shoal of 50 of them in the mid 90's. The last ones lived into 04/05.
Really small cool schooling fish are my Copper-salmons.
But got no sceintific name, so that's no help.
My Silver Dollars are passing the six ", and do not seem to be stopping yet.
They're in the 180Gl and I wouldn't keep them in a smaller tank!
