Best setup to get maximum color out of atf

I have two baby vatf and when I first got them they had all the stripes and red on the lobes of their fins now that I have them I put them into tank and they lost the color now they are just silver why did that happen ??

If you recently added them to the tank, I'd definitely agree with stress.

I recommend a darker substrate or background to bring out their color.

I'd go with dark substrate. Every one of my ATFs loss their color when first introduced. Give it a few weeks.

Blue would probably bring out the most vibrant coloration but I had black background and bottom with my old goliath.

I agree dark substrate brings out the best color in most fish, I think simply because any fish tries to blend in .... however, your tank looks similar to mine, and my fish, I think, have good color ... give it time, and also pellets help provide many nutrients that are helpful in bringing out color
