ok so i am going to get a puffer or 2 or 3 and want to know what are some of the best species for a intermediate fish keeper. i have had indian dwarfs before and loved em. thnx:popcorn:

Well i said dwarf puffer, I do not know about the "Indian" species. but the golden dwarf, or bb, or whatever the LFS will call them (Carinotetraodon travancoricus) are a great choice. They do well with 3 or 5 together and actually will tolerate some other species such as halfbeaks, african dwarf frog ect. easy to care for and fun to watch as well.

I voted "other" only to later realize later that when you mentioned indian dwarf puffer your most likely talking about the Carinotetraodon travancoricus...

In which case then that would be your best choice as they are definitely the easiest to take care, no need to worry about teeth trimming, and you can keep a few in a reasonably small tank... just make sure to have a good male to female mix... i.e. 1M - 3F

^ As great as MBU's are, unfortunately most people don't have a 800G + tank to house on of these magnificent monsters, i know i definitely have come close to falling for one, especially a little 1.5 inch one i saw a while ago... but sadly with only a 200G tank i had to pass...

From the look of your signature, you have a 125 gal full of air... why not fill it with water instead and get a Fahaka puffer? I don't find them hard to take care of. Just make sure you feed snails!

I would say regular Dwarf Puffer, but since that isn't a choice I guess I won't vote. :D

sorry i guess the indian dwarf is the same as the regular dwarf...who woulda known? ya actually the puffer has to be able to fit in a 10 gallon or smaller tank? i have easy access to red eyes, fahaka, green spotteds, bumblebees, and dwarfs. i wish i could get a big one like a congo or fahaka. maybe the next tank. the 125 is actually going to house my ca cichlids. i want a congo tank and a southeast asian tank, maybe then i will add a congo or fahaka. never heard of a hairy?
