ive been treating my tank for ich for about a week and its only getting worse, anyone had a good experience with any certain treatments?

Turn up the temp to 85 and add 1 teaspoon per gallon aquarium salt for 10 days.

You should expect the ich to get worse in the middle of the treatment. What did you use to treat for ich?

Salt and heat has always worked for me, and haven't even bothered to try anything else in years

I always add some salt to my tanks. It prevents the Ich from attacking the fish.
When i started keeping fish, i had lost about 40 neon tetra in a week due to ich when the temperature drops(water temp gets down to 14 degreesC), now they don't even get ich :)

Rikesh, you're doing this the wrong way. Stop adding salt and keep it in your cabinet. Ich will come back when you fail to quarantine new arrivals. Once they become accustomed to the presence of the salt, these become harder to destroy than the ones that have not been adapted to the presence of salt at all.

Huh?? Really?? hmmm, maybe you are right Lupin...
but i've been on the safe side since two years.
By the way, how should I quarantine new fish?? Only put them in a spare tank and add some medecine?? lol, i've never quarantined fish.

Quarantine in a barebottom tank with a sponge filter and a few slates or PVC pipes for hiding places for four weeks. Just keep monitoring and do your usual routine. No need to add meds or anything else.

Thanks.
But ich is always present in the water, it affects the fish only when they are stressed. How would you know if the ich is still present?
