Ich is not always present in the water. It can only be introduced via unquarantined specimens which serve as carriers. They reside mostly in the gill tissues and can only be completely destroyed if the treatment course is prolonged by about 14 days to make sure every parasite has been eradicated. The only way to know ich is present, is when they begin to appear in outbreaks. Frequent scratching could cover a lot of skin disease such as skin flukes, not just ich so this sign is not entirely reliable to assume ich is there.Rikesh;2606492; said:Thanks.
But ich is always present in the water, it affects the fish only when they are stressed. How would you know if the ich is still present?
