Best submersible heaters?

Jager heaters made by Eheim are probably the most reliable I have used. They are calibratable and made of Pyrex glass. Very well made and UL certified to be fully submersible. I currently have one 300w keeping my 210 at a constant 82F. This is the only heater in the tank and it has been great. I did use a ViaAqua titanium 300w with a separate temp probe and worked well, however, it wouldnt shut off when the tank was drained and it melted its plastic bracket during a water change....not fun. One more thing, a titanium heater and some "stealth" heaters dont always have indicator lights or readily visible indicator lights to let you know they are on and that is annoying sometimes.
BTW, if stray voltage is a concern, try a grounding probe. Theyre no more than $15-$20 and they take all stray voltage out of the tank. I used to have stray voltage in my tanks, some as high as 40vac. I know fish are sensitive to things like that so the probe was absolutely a good thing.

Aqueon Pro, pretty reliable to me.

X2. Bought a pair of 300watt Jagers a few months back and they are crap, especially the temperature adjust knob. Also love my Renas, have had them since early 2010 and they are awesome.

I liked my jagers up until I realized 2 of the 4 I have(all less than 2 years old) were leaking voltage into my tanks.

This is sad, Eheim used to make great stuff. Now they're making some of their line in china. I've read other posts about their heaters failing in one way or another as well. I'm about to set up another tank & I really don't know which heater I'm going to choose

I've used alot of AGA's & never had a problem, & I see alot of people mention the Aqueon's, maybe I'll give them a shot

I had a Jager quit after 6 months. It's the only heater I've had quit. I still use them though. I just got 3 JBJ true temp heaters that are working great so far. I know some people like them, but I'd never buy another Hydor heater.

I bought a jager because I read about people having them for 20 plus years on here... guess they don't make em the same anymore. I like the design its solid, simple, basic, and dynamic(because you can calibrate it). At the end of the day it has to work though and not shock your fish. A 50 percent failure rate is not acceptable to me. I hope I have a better experience with these new heaters.

This brings up a good point. We're probably lucky the stealth pro was a marineland product and not eheim. Eheim probably still have gotten back to anyone on the heater issue from what you hear about their customer service. Based on customer service everyone should probably buy from aqueon and marineland.

I have a pile of dead stealth heaters, they might not leak voltage that I know of, but out of a bunch I acquired recently less than 2 years old(got them second hand from another member of these forums) as well 1/4 were dead, or didn't function properly. If I hadn't gotten such a deal on them the faulty hardware would have caused more of an issue.
