Best Temperature For Bass?

Im planning on getting a bass this week if all goes well, and i was wondering if the regular tropical temperature (78F) is okay for a Bass? (LM/SM) Also, any tips when transitioning him to my house to acclimating him to the tank as easy and stressless as possible so he can survive?

Although they may like it warmer down in Texas, my reference book (by the PA Fish & Boat Commission) says warm water fish, such as the Largemouth Bass, "thrives and reproduces in water temperatures warmer than 80 degrees. The preferred temperature range for these fishes is between 70 and 85 degrees."

I keep mine at room temperature, as I have pickerel in there, and they don't like it quite that warm.

I found out that they can take cold water quite well, as a recent ice storm left us with no heat or power for almost 4 days.
 
I would go room temp as well, they should do fine. Standard acclimation will work, they are very hardy. Largemouth prefer it on the warmer side, where as smallmouth prefer a bit cooler. I have had smallmouths at room temp with out a problem.
