Best type for breeding Feeders?

To be specific Female Cons have orange on their bellies. Also be aware cons have a spiney dorsal with may lodge within the fish making them unhappy or even hurt. Other choices are livebearers like Mollies and Swordtails with a softer dorsal, both breed like rabbits.

earlier this week i picked up 2 2" convicts and one smaller one around 1" in hopes of doing something similar and getting a pair to breed for feeders for my new GATF. I am unable to determine the sex currently but hopefully they will pair up.
 
best bet is to buy like 4 or 5 cons so ensure they will form a pair. best way to sex them tho is to look at their dorsal and anal fin. males get trailers and the tips of these fins grow long and pointed. females stay short
 
what about minnows? If you have local streams and rivers a minnow trap can get you enough feeders for a few months.
