best uv sterilizer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
u.v. filtration is nice but IMO can reduce flow and jack up your temp. alot. if you have a 150gal. make sure you get one that is not too big for your setup so the heat doesnt increase. unless you want to spend big $$$ on a chiller to go with it. i think the lifeguard is a peice of tripe honestly. sorry star-flog.

In order for UVs to be effective the water has to flow through the UV at a rate that is slow enough so that the UV rays can illuminate the water long enough to kill things. Think of it as a tanning booth. If you're not in it long enough you don't get a tan. If the water flows too fast it doesn't kill the bugs.

You need to examine the specs on the UV you have and match the flow rate of the UV to the pump used to pump the water through. My guess is that your return pump is pumping too fast for the UV you would get.

You most likely should get a seperate pump.
