Have you tried tricking the fish into eating pellets? With my puffer I simply make an incision in the fish filet or shrimp and add pellets inside and while he is chomping down he usually eats quite a few of the pellets in the process. I also use the Boyd's to soak the food first but I feel like the pellets hidden in the food also work.
