Go to walmart and buy a big plastic net. Those work the best because the ones made out of plastic are horrible and the fish usually get its fins stuck
No I was refering to this.

Oh, LOL okay... I was confused by this, as well. I'm thinking he or she didn't mean to say "plastic" twice...

Thanks for the advice the net I have has big holes so I'll stop at walmart tommorrow and see what they have. I know the petstore has some big ones so Ill check there to.

Yeah, for Oscars, Tetra sells a net that will fit them that your LFS should have. It's blue and I think it's twelve inches wide. It was only after we got into Pacu/RTC that we had to start combing sporting goods stores to find a gigantic net.

In worse case I have used a small sheet or pillow case, after lowering the water level.

The wife mentioned that but I was afraid it may leak soap in the water from being washed. That and I really dont want to lower the water since I did today. If I was going to do that Id just completly drain it then just pick him up when he didnt have enough water to swim anymore.

Yeah I seen those at my LFS ans if I rememeber right they really werent that much so I'll think I'll get that instead because I'm sure the holes would be much smaller then and actual fishing net.

I'd just use my hands for a fish that size. Even if you get a net that's a proper size, it'll still stress him out more than if you just gently picked him up and moved him. My $0.02.

Until he thrashes and you drop him on the floor...
I always feel better about using a soft net, especially for more powerful fish that can get away from you.

I like my big Python (as in the waterchanger brand) net. It has a really long handle and really soft mesh. My only complaint us how weak the handle is. If you use it for heavy fish, you have to lift them by the rim of the net.

I have moved many large fish, and some had large teeth, but all developed the strength of professional wrestlers once they saw me coming for them. I use a net.
