i have got a 35gal with white gravel and wanted to put some of it in my 24x12x12 because im going to have Neolamprologus brichardi in there.
how do i change the gravel? and could i literally swap the gravel round? so i get my black from my 24x12x12 into a corner of my 35gal?
thanks for the help

Just swap it out as long as you do not have any type of illness in either tank. Parasites will hitch a ride with the rock. You could rinse it off but then you would kill the small amount of BB on the gravel. This is never a fun project. I'd ditch the rock for pool filter sand if I were you.

Siphon the gravel into a bucket. When the bucket is full, pour off the water and dump the gravel into another container until you get it all out. Then start on the other tank.

You know Chomp if you wouldve passed that info on about 8 years ago I would be a better man today. To think its as eased as a tube. Man!!!

You can siphon gravel? wow.. i tried but i never got anything...
I changed my 55's gravel from white home depot stones to real tank gravel and i had to take out ALL of the water, dump out the gravel, bring the tank outside, clean it up and then bring it back in.. it was a crazy job

I feel your pain. I did the stupid mistake of put the wrong gravel in the tank. Spent 2 hrs cleaning the gravel then putting it in the tank. Afterward, I regret that I went with gravel so large cuz the food would fall right thru the gravels. I spent another 2 hrs scooping it out because it was too large to be suck out. I spent another 2 hrs going to Lowes to pick a smaller grain gravel. I got home and spent 5hrs cleaning the new gravel and putting it in the tank. Take your time to pick out the gravel you want. Once it's in the tank just sit and back in relax. This almost made me want to quit the hobby because I got so tired.

Thats why i went with Penny sized gravel for my MONSTER fish... But i wanna change it >.< and i cant drag a 240g out side.... XD

scoop it up with a net

I used a small bucket and just got out the medium sized gravel.. but on the bottom.. was like what looked like dirt.. except really black and it was so NASTY!
