Best way to control algae???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I see water change it is then, its hard when i get all sorts of different info, i thought it was strange when i was told 4-5 water changes a year lol i do 2 at least a week with my other tanks

best way is dump a crap load of snails in ur tank plus a uv filter!
I'm confused as to why you think this is a logical response...

A UV sterilizer will only eliminate green water and free floating algae but it will not eliminate algae growth on glass or decorations. U will still have to scrub the algae off. Also UV's can get expensive.

So whats the cheapest way of controlling it and most effective?? just water changes and general tank maintenance??

Basically I'd do a 50% right now and then schedule doing 20% maybe 1 once or twice a week. Then go from there, :) water changes and regular tank maintenance should cut it. Snakeheads are extremely hardy yes they can live in crapp conditions but if you want them to live longer and healthier then water changes are the way to go. Do you have a test kit?
