best way to cut trim so AC 110 will fit?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
dude, just notch that lip with a good, sharp razor. score it several times, deep, and then work it with a set of pliers. Way easier then a dremel.

Just dont cut yourself.

yes. it is plastic. we may just end up going that route. I will post updates when it is done. what a pain in the ass this is.

the tank is well made, excellent silicone work. you can can even feel the continuous bead of silicone all the way around the perimeter of the tank to hold the trim on, just like the old Oceanics used to do.

but this trim is annoying. why they would have a thick part and a thin part on opposite sides of the tank is stupid. it should have been thin either all the way around or both on the same side so you had a 'front' and a 'back' where the filters would go..

the thing is, if an AC110 will not fit over the thicker part, no other HOB filter ever will. I believe the AC 110's have the most clearance of any of them..

but this particular tank manufacturer (whom I have had great success with in the past - some of my miracles tanks have lasted almost 20 years) is the only one who makes a 50g breeder that is 18" tall.

Aqueon makes a 50g breeder but it is an inch taller (19 tall) which is a bit tight and I would have to get them to make me one with black silicone as I will never buy a tank with clear silicone again. black is much better :)
