Im just using Safe water treatment for the first time and Im a little confused.
If you're treating 50g of water and you need 1 tsp for every 5g,
Do you treat just for the new 25% chlorinated water going in or do you treat for the whole amount that will be in the tank when u'r finsihed?
and:
I imagine you remove the amount of water you're going to change from the tank (25%) first, then treat the remaining tank water as if that 25% were still present, then put back the the fresh water from the tap?
This seems to be the logical way to do it -just wanna be sure. Treating the water in buckets prior to pouring them into the tank is not an option.
*Most petshops do not treat their water.
I didnt for years, with no adverse health effects, that I could see anyway. I kept Tanganyikan and Malawi cichlids but always w/a low bioload -so small water changes. But now keeping much bigger fish, in a smaller tank and having done some independent research (and reading posts by people like JD, on this forum, tx) , I realize have to start because it is toxic to fish and in enough concentration, damages their gills and body slime, etc.
