+1 for cichlids they are great and i get allot of joy having they breed also puffers and eels allot of people love. I really like my mix of African cichlids and other odd stuff. Loaches are great also.

Any of the cichlids, really. Smart, interactive, and plenty of personality.

what would you say is the best wet pet. i don't care about the fishes look, i just want to know, in your your experience, what is the best wet pet (fish). mine would have to be my gar because i can hand feed him and pet him without him swimming away or sinking. second would be my lima because I've hand fed him and i hear that it's fairly uncommon for them to be so friendly. i'm trying to get my channel to hand feed but he is still skittish.

If you don't care about the fish's looks and have enough space, get an African Arowana. They are very active and always looking for food. I had one that I grew out from 3" to about 17" in a little over a year. That was one of the coolest fish I've ever owned in terms of personality. As for the looks, some of my guests said it was an ugly fish, but I didn't care, I thought he was awesome.

fire eels, most the mastb species, puffers, triggers, most your higher chain predetors. atm my fav wet pet i own is our cuban gar, hes outgoing and friendly. even when hes not hungry. ime cichlids are like that dumb dog that will do anything for a treat, but runs into walls. goldfish actually make pretty good wet pets as well... depends how "smart" of a fish you want... our smartest fish is prolly our aba aba knife, took a long time for him to become unwary of me but hes fascinateing to watch, you can. always see the wheels turning...
