Aside from oscars and red devil/Midas. What are other good options for active and interactive sa/ca cichlids?

Just picked up my first flowerhorn last weekend.

i know you said cichlids but i would suggest giant gourami, snakeheads or any puffers as some of the best wet pets... cich;id wise obviously midas and oscar as fore mentioned, infact any amphilophus hooga, amarillo ect.. any veija will make great wet pets aswell as being colourful. imo polleni aare very similar too oscar in personality then you have the pike cichlids... ive kept lone convicts in small tanks which are great aswell, especially for a teenager to get into fish keeping,,,

edit, red texas are awesome too!-)

Managuese (my fav), Jack Dempsey, Green Terror, Oscar. For a little tank German Blue Ram those little guys have personality.

I'm glad jags and viejas are on that list. Paratilapia too. Those guys are so cool looking.

I've had a pike cichlid before and all he did was hide and be a real a-hole to everyone in the tank haha.

I thought green terrors where a bit on the shy side...

What about festae?

ive had some glass biting green terror, can be cool... like any of the above tho with the exception of the none cichlids you could end up with a shy boring one, prob be best buying 6-10 and growing them picking the most characterful dominant one if you want a good wet pet.

Hard to beat a Trimac.

I keep viejas too - I wouldn't say they are very interactive, but mine are in a community not solo, that makes a difference.
