There is a Chinese Buffet near my house that has a giant Green Terror in a large tank up above some bench seats and he is a glass biter. Everyone is sitting there eating sushi and Chinese food and the GT is trying to bite them in the head LOL they don't even notice. That's my only experience with adult GT's.
 
Nandopsis Haitiensis. Harder to come by than some of the others, but absolute beasts once mature. Photo taken from Google images (not mine).

green terror and/or jack dempsey. although my convicts are pretty interactive as well.

I have a fahaka puffer and a gg and they are some of the most interactive fish I've ever kept. Especially the fahaka.
 
Fire eels are cool with big cichlids, tire tracks r ok ,Fire eels are more outgoing , also delhizi bichiers too,a lil more fun than ornate and saddled bichir, but yeah fire eels are cool they compete for food the same as the alpha in the tank will and beg crazy love attention and dont mind being petted,just if you ever feed earthworms to them cut in half, could kill them. I had a fire eel and a tire track eel they were 24 to 26 inch and they loved the aggressive cich tank.
 
My fault ,misread,thought u said best wt pet along with cichlids. But yeah so many options with cichs ,i say a pike should be included , species preference according to tank size,loiselli ,cuban,myersi,spectabilis ,the list goes on, my favorite a female umbie and a male jag together works good and both big and a beautiful to almost same size,or a male red terror and a female red tiger motaguense
 
I've read before that those puffers are great too. But I've also read they get super big!

Mbu get massive, fahaka 18 inch iirc? Green spotted puffers 6 inch but will be brackiah to full marine when they grow... there are a few species of dwarf puffer that stay fw
