I'm going to pick up a heater today or tomorrow for my 55g and trying to see which heaters to stay away from.....It seems like everyone says to stay away from Marineland's Stealth heaters....any other heaters to stay away from?

Thanks.

If I recall correctly, it was an Eheim, aluminum heater that I loved the most. It was aluminum, thin, and the thermostat was on the plug in the wall. No reaching into tank to adjust heat.
I have a Rena smart heater now, it has vents and is plastic, a little on the big side, but efficient.
I stay away from glass as a whole. Not cichlid and big fish friendly - and god forbid you let the heater out of the water when doing a change, the glass one could break.

marineland makes one thats unbreakable and i would that or anything better

stay away from cheap heathers even handleing them can cause them to break...

I believe the indestructible ones are the ones that destruct themselves

thanks. How do y'all feel about Fluval's heaters?

too pricey for me to have even tried them
not sure they make a submersible model
so that also puts them on the not tried list

If you run a canister filter the Hydor in line heaters are the way to go. Get the heater out of the tank! No more fish burns, broken glass or annoying looking extra gear in the tank.
