Betta Fish Death

poor fish ,,, next time you will know no food is better than THAT.....GOOD LUCK on your next vacation:popcorn:

When you first posted I thought you had white cloudy water. Sort of when a tank is first set up and hasn't cycled. But that water is yellowish brownish. You should try to do a 50% water change every 2-3 days till you get your water back to normal. Hope your other fish are doing well.

Yea I've been workin on the water changes. And I've rinsed the filter again after cleaning it when I got home. It was SO bad. Is there any stuff I can run through the filter to make sure it's really clean? It's a pain in the butt to carry it around my house to the bath tub to rinse it.

You shouldn't make everything sparkling clean. What kind of filter do you have? Beneficial bacteria colonize the filter.

If it has multiple cartridges, change only half of them. That way you save a lot of the beneficial bacteria. That should be how you change cartridges. Clean all the food debris but don't use soap or a sponge, just water.

The only time I've had fish death while on vacation is when I had someone else feed my fish. Since then, I let them starve for the week, or 10 days and they've always been fine.

I only have other people feed my fish every 2-3 days while I'm away. a little fast won't hurt them. Plus others tend to over feed. Sorry for the loss.

yep same here, I never let ppl feed my fish. I buy a vacation block and if i'm gone a little longer, they starve til i get back. Was all that brown stuff on top of the gravel food????? how much did they think the freaking fish can eat?
