Well my 4 year old daughters betta was found dead yesterday morning. Not sure why. No symptoms, alive one day dead the next. I had to laugh at my daughters response when I told her he had gone to fish heaven. She turned and said "he will be alright daddy. He can play with trickey(our old cat) and David Bowie now".

Sorry to hear than Stan but at least your daughter took it well, and in an amusingly lovely way.
4 yr is about the life expectancy of betta. Droping dead of old age often has no symptom
Sorry to hear that , unfortunately it's part of the fishkeeping game. Sounds like she's taken it better than can be expected.
I must admit when I read the title of the thread I thought you had set up some crazy SE Asian biotope for a betta and was expecting to see some cool pictures, not the bad news your daughters pet had died.
Sort of off topic, I got my daughter a paradise fish for her tank today, it's the first time she actually seems emotionally attached to a fish.

I wanted to cry when my Paradise fish passed away last year, they're very personable fish! Like a bigger, faster Betta
