Does anyone know how long the normal life span for a betta is? I've been told that they normally don't live past two years (which I didn't really believe anyway), and I think my betta is currently around 3 years old (can't remember exactly when I got it, and I don't know how old it was when I got it) and is still looking perfectly healthy.

I had one as a kid, and I believe it lived for about two years or so. Maybe if u keep it like other fish with a filter and adequate tank, and not in a bowl or something it will live longer. At the time I just ended up with it and had no idea about how to care for fish or have money to buy equipment as I was a little kid so it stayed in a small beta tank with no filtration or anything. cant say for sure cuz im definately not a beta expert

Mine lived 1 year, but it was when i was a noob to fish, the tank wasn't cycled or heated.

When I was younger mine lived to 5 years.

My first one live around 3 years. I bought it from a store that had it in a tank.

The next one lived about 8 months or so. Those damn cups stunt them and shortens their life spans.

As long as your betta is well cared for, it can live for 5+ years. My longest living betta was about 6 years old.

Bettas usually lives for 4-6 years but the average they usually live is 3 years. I have had many bettas for a long time and the oldest guy liveto 6yrs.. i miss him so
