Betta tank mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Maybe some Corys? I usually just keep bettas by themselves in a 5 gallon tank. I'm sure others have some better suggestions

Currently in a 20 I’ve got:
3 zebra danios
5 neons (going to increase that next time I’m at the lfs)
A male betta
4-5 Pygmy cories
And shrimp + snails

Very peaceful tank now that the tetras aren’t small enough to eat. Occasional flaring from the betta and chasing from the danios.

I would do cherry shrimp and a group of chili rasboras.

Edit to my post: Neocaridina sp shrimp which come in a wide variety of colors.

You will be fine is a standard 20gal. I used the long version as they are better for Bettas. Not to deep so they cam swim easily to the bottom.
Just make sure you have some plants fake or real for it to rest in. Mine spent a lot of time parked in plants.

Keep in mind it also really depends on the individual betta. Some do really well with peaceful tank mates, and others will go after anything else in "their" space. But you won't know until you try.
