Betta tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
although having a 25% success rate would still be reason to be cautious about adding tankmates imo.

25% were nice to EACH OTHER. All of them were able to have tank mates. Tetras, danios and various other small fish.

That's not what you said earlier...

I have kept 18 bettas and they have all been fine with every other fish. Not all could be housed together but about 1/4 of them were docile enough.
If only 1/4 were docile enough to be kept together, that means you had a 25% success rate, unless by "...about 1/4 of them were docile enough" you meant that 1/4 were docile enough to fight eachother..........

If you really had a 75% success rate, then I'd definitely consider myself very lucky, because out of all the bettas I've ever had (not sure how many) I've only owned one that would tolerate tankmates other than plecos; I had kept him with 5 guppies (two males, three females), and a small cory in a 20 gallon.

Sigh....

Not all of THE BETTA'S could be kept TOGETHER. Meaning one betta would not like having another betta in his tank. NONE of them had any problems

Well in any case, my position still stands. We have had opposing experiences with bettas, which supports my original post saying that it sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. It just depends on luck, I guess.

man, why did that guy just repeat himself like 4 times? WE got it, only 25 percent of the time you were able to keep your bettas with another bettas. nexxxxxt.

lmao, here's my question. Can shrimp be kept in a planted betta tank?

I kept some ghost shrimp with my betta to test the waters with shrimp....the betta ate them within a week :irked: Just my experience though

As for otther tankmates I have had success with cories and other small fast bottom dwellers.

not the answer i was hoping for but it was what i needed to hear. Thanks

i have kept my betta with a ton of things

try to stay away from fish that nip alot like barbs and mollies

i had patys do fine , bala sharks(even tho they get to big for your tank),common pleco work fine , i have kept gouramis , and a rainbow shark smaller cats work fine too

now thats just what i have done every fish is different so pick carefully my betta chased almost everything but there slow and most times cant get but a tiny nip in before the other is on the other side of the tank

get some floating plants and the betta would prolly hang out there most of the time

I have kept female bettas with little incident in community set ups. I had a female sorority but it collapsed into bloodshed when the little guppy died. I think he was bottom of the pecking order.

I have kept male bettas singly in community tanks without incident. I have not made many attempts to cohabitate male bettas. I've tried once and that was plenty.
