Betta tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My bettas tend to be mean and aggressive at first but within a few days they seem to be ok. Maybe they are trying to be territoral or just curious but they lived fine with Killi's, cories, tetras, cherry shrimp, and at th moment I have one with an Ornate Bichir (about 3in) in his grow out tank. They completely ignore one another....for now

I kept a betta succesfully with fancy guppies, hatchets, buenos aires tetras, female betta, gourami (gourami's are A-holes!), cories and a few other "community" fish. This was is a 39tall over 3 yrs ago, only kept it for about 6 months before falling in love with cichlids but had no problems from the betta at all.

ive always kept crowntail bettas with my fancy guppies very few have ever had a problem and if they didthey got sent to the "bowl" lol ive also kept them with gouramis african butterflyfish, danios, tigerbarbs(always in sets of 2 they chase each other instead of betta), and pictis catfish. i usually have a well planted tank as well if that makes any difference i have no idea

It depends on the betta. My plakat is the most passive, but curious thing I've ever seen. I actually have to work to get him to flare. On the other hand my old crowntail was a murderous lunatic. He killed snails in fits of rage, to get my attention, or just for fun. I tried keeping otos with him, but he never left them alone.
