well i have ick on 5 of my betta i dont know i they got they but they did,damn i think it has something to do with the ghost shimp i have put in there to clean up the food.(local lake) this sucks should i add salt and raise the temp? i lost o many i put all the shimp in the aqurium, everything has been effected except for my bass thank GOD! I have learned my lesson to quortene. When i quortene them (feeders for my bass) should i treat them with ick med, and external parsite meds? This so suck i have lost 5 fish already! thought the shrimp was cool NOT NOW!!! Also i have learned not to share nets in other aquiruim, damn it i have so much to learn. Yeah i know im stupid but hey everyone must learn! i hate to learn this way though. I have baby fry i hope this will not effect them to damn it. Whats the bet way to get rid of this fast i am using meds! Fish are from different aquiruims too. Can bass get ick?

the best way to cure ick on any fresh water fish is to use AP quick cure and if they are in a heated tank bring there heat up to 85deg for 24 hours then after the visable spots are gone water change 25 t0 50% to remove the treatment from the water. also AP betta fix is quite good.
Jpatz, wild FW shrimp can bring in ich spores and often carry tapeworms as well. try to breed them captive for a couple generations without exposure to fish like you would with scuds, this gets rid of the problems. Ich can be gotten rid of by a 2 week quarantine in water containing 2 tsp salt/gallon if the temp is 78 F or higher, longer if the water is colder. Without fish to complete the life cycle on the ich will die out even without the salt but it takes abit longer. No fish are completely immune to ich but some are more resistant than others.
Thanks for all the reply i did get rid of ick, i used the "blue stuff" but i think it was more too it then that i lost 2cats 3 bettas. I was new to aquarium and did not cycle it. I know now. We went to the pet store. All are water test where pretty Bright colors. So we had high everything. So i think it was the end of the cycle were evrything spikes. I will get some more ghost shrimp from the ditch. We get a lot of pregnant ones. You thik 100 shrimps will do? well put them in the pond "pool" out side will they breed fast and better that what?
