ah good a nice speedy response, :) i think that the ich should be gone at a max of 10-12 days? is my guess, as you have a large shoal of barbs, the theory is that they wont bother your long finnaged fish, YET i have tried this myself wit ha shoal of 14 tigers, mixed with guppies, they were ok, BUT when i added a betta, then trouble started. i think there is always a risk nothing id 100% safe like human, fish are individuals with personalities to!

good point. thanks for the in-put. i guess its a trialand error depending on the fish. my barbs are pretty calm. they dont mess with my other fish, but who knows maybe they would eat up a betta. so idk, we'll see.

for the 1st night you add the betta, also add alot of tall grasses, or floating plants, if you havnt got any already, just so ther is somewhere safe for the betta to retreat to, also keep the lights on all night, i found that help to disorientate my barbs and they didnt then bother my guppies

Usually people are afraid of putting Bettas in their community tank because they fear that Bettas will terrorize everything. It always seems to be the opposite though. Some community fish, like tiger barbs, like to nip at fish with long fins. A lot of people suggest not to put them in with Angels due to this. Male Bettas are relatively peaceful expect with each other and similar fish like Paradise Fish. Females can be maintained together in a group. There may be some aggression, but nothing life threating.
