it's kinda hard to pick. i love the look of jags but i love the tude of doviis

Dovii all the way. a show specimen would make a jag look pale in comparison. not that i dont love jags as well they are another of my favorites, but the purples and greens and blues of a full grown dovii with natural sunlight hitting it would make most people fall in love. they are outright maniacs once they hit a certain point. some reach that point sooner than others. as far as looks though everyone has their own opinion so i know i cant argue over which is nicer as we all have different wants. but if you look in Conkels book The cichlids of nrth and central america there is a picture of two dovii swimming that look like absolute predators. beautiful as well. check the pics out if you havent already

Male Jags, If the right breed are beautiful, but I have had both. And my 12+" male dovii is the best looking, meanist, tank busting SOB I have ever seen. When you even get close to the tank he goe full out, open mouth charge at the tank. I had a jag like that 8 years ago, but he looked 1/2 as goog. Then my Asian Snake head made lunch of him. It is a toss up, but Dovii are the KING OF ALL CICHLIDS

Got to admit both fishes is AAA+++ quality. Were probably lucky if our jags and doviis gets half as descent as mojo fishes.
