Better Sand?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I havent tried any but another member duanes uses red flint sand. Check out some of his threads he usually posts lots of pics

Yes I did buy it locally. I think it was more on my part because I didn't think at the time there was a difference between garnet and red garnet. Seeing the red sand that was in the bag only helped my thought process, but seeing the after affect I can see there obviously a difference.

Hi Dr.B, I thought your garnet sand is same shade as this? no? I feel like your lighting might make it look a bit less red.

Garnet sand is variable. My abrasives supplier said almost all the garnet he's seen in the last year or two is more purple than red. Estes Ceramaquartz is a better alternative, IMO. Their red sand is a nice brick red that makes bichers look incredible.

What kind of lighting do you have Hao? I have Current USA LEDs

I don't clearly remember what lights I had. I sold off everything quite awhile back. I just remembered they were like 8x 10k T5 bulbs or something along that line.

If anyone can find red garnet sand I'd be interested, I ordered some garnet from ntruddock and it came brown not red. Was very disappointed
