BGK and feeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sounds good, I would bet that it is eating something. BTW, BGK generally are not compatible with other BGK unless you have a really huge tank. I forgot to mention that my BGK loves Hikari sinking wafers and will often drag one into its cave and pick at it while all the other fish are eating shrimp or daphnia.

beautiful.... how big is your boy? I have so Many tanks that even though i would like to change and more or less do a sand substrate in more of them...i hate disturbing fish ...especially when they are doing well... your color looks good mixed like that.... mine eats frozen blood worms, frozen krill, hikari gold pellets and hikari cat fish pellets,.. the only thing he will not eat is zucchni and algae pellets and thats good so his tank mates eat in peace.. :D

My BGK is 8".

My husband and daughter decorated the tank. Her favorite color is red. Hubby put in a 48" bubble wand and made a "river" of the blue & silver rocks with bubbles coming out. There was also a "mountain", that then became a "volcano", and a bunch of fake plants! I thought it looked pretty cheesy, but that was their contribution so I won't complain. Over time, my maniacal water changes have mixed the gravel a lot and eroded the mountain. I'd like to change it, but I agree with you, I don't want to upset the balance......

I think it looks really nice and the BGK is stunning against it... i have a few tanks that have old fashion gravel but yes it is not important to me compared to disturbing the fish, i just did my community tank...amazing how much work getting all the old gravel out.. and how long it took for water to clear from new substate of sand.. not bad but just could not get it crystal clear... all fish are doing great so it was a success,.but no hurry to do it again:grinno:

Sounds like a huge job! Did you do it in stages or all at once? I'd like to have sand in mine because I have some banjo cats in there and I think they'd prefer it. However, I have a vision of just making a huge mess. Mostly it is the bubble want that bothers me, especially when I'm taking pictures.

i did it in stages but i saved their original water to put back and make it quicker and also used the water they were in while being displaced..the life saver was using the shop vac for taking out the old gravel... that made all the difference in the world.. then just added old gravel to my out door garden... i learned about the shop vac when my 230g pacu tank exploded... the wire under the tank caused a short and heated up the bottom of the tank and the bottom opened up....after a power outdage.. the debri was everywhere ..lost the pacu .. glass everywhere and water..nightmare..but shop vac helped a nightmare clean up fast..

hey guys just a liul update, he seems to be growing and he's still alive. he now has his own giant bell in the middle of the tank which he defends from everything but my new pair of large breeding jewel cichlids who he seems to... well yeah seems to mimic the actions of a cleaner wrasse LOL, so he's happy in his giant bell now im on the look out for my pleco's lol trying to make sure their eating hehehe.

lucky im on a month long uni holiday or i duno where id find the time to just sit and stress.
