I have had a BGK for about 6 yrs. How do I tell the gender, always been curious. There is 1 white stripe on the end of its tail fine that is vertical in relation to the body.. I have a "home" in the tank for it. But the older it gets the less it seems to use it? It spends most of its time laying in the bubble stream from the power head.. never seen that before. Its in a 55 gal tank. New to this forum. Thanks!

Welcome to MFK Sean ☺ I personally don't know myself but if you type in sex of BGK in the search bar upper left corner until members chime in you may find info there.

Hi, sexing is notoriously difficult and usually harder to do until they are older. There are few people that breed them and can tell the difference.

A BGK will outgrow a 55 eventually, unless you have bigger tanks available :)

From what I've read/heard, Males tend to have a more elongate head while Females tend to have a short "snout" and are more rounded.
