I'm almost done with my fire eels tank and the next big tank I want to do is a BGK and I need ideas. What do you guys think would be an ideal tank? I don't plan on breeding, so just one with compatible tank mates and decor that would really set off its coloring.

Let's hear or see your ideas!

Whats BGK stand for? Blk. Ghost Knife???

Big tank over a 100 gallons if you can. With lots of hiding places

I was thinking in the 150-180g range. Big enough to have some other large fish. Thinking maybe a school of bala sharks or something else fairly passive and what ever else sounds good. That's as far as I have gotten, so that's why I was looking for ideas. Does anyone have a ghost in a particular substrate or deco scheme that has really set of the stark black and white? What other fish do you have with them? Things like that.

just make sure it has lots of places to hide. lots of plants or decorations. 180 would be nice. a full grown bala is about 12-14 inches so a school in a 180 would be kind of crammed they need lots of swiming space.

I am getting ready to re-design my Black Ghost Knife tank.. The poor fellah has lived it's entire life in a 55g, before I inherited it. It is now about 15-16" long, and I will be upgrading it to a 90g tank so it will feel a little more comfortable.

I am thinking I will go with a white silica sand, to offset the black ghost knife. I will be doing a South America theme, with no fish from other continents. I have a large plastic hollow driftwood decor as the centerpeice, and a plethora of other plastic plants that I will use. Live plants just aren't my thing, and I find a nice layer of algae all over the tank and fake decor gives it a nice natural look.

Some of the tankmates I plan on having will be peaceful cichlids such as Geophagus and Festivums.. Perhaps a large school of Tetras, but I am afraid they will become snacks. I am also thinking a schoal of XL Brochis cats would be a nice effect. A few fancy plecos, and maybe an oddball or two.. Depends on what I will work out to be compatible, as the BGK is to be the primary focus.

Hopefully that gives you some good ideas :)
