my lfs would probably order me one, but is it worth the hassle, when i could pick the nicest one out of a tank at petsmart?

If you are confident enough you can pick out a nice, healthy fish, by all means do it. Just make sure you check for any sign of weakness, and avoid it at all costs.

ok well i have 2 glass catfish, 5 glolite tetras, 5 female platies, 2 killifish, 2 khuli loaches, would these be suitable tank mates?
also i looked on the internet and i couldnt find anything about PH for abk? any1 have any info on PH?

The ph should be in the range 6.0-6.5, with up to 7.0 being tolerable. That's at least what others have had success with, I haven't owned one.

Your tetras and platties will probably be lunch. Maybe even the killis, depending on their size.

sweet my PH is like 6 i think (i have a test kit but i put in the drops and it tells me that it is too high to read)
the killies are like 4in each
so is it ok if the afbk eats the tetras/platties? would it be bad for it?

The killis should be fine.

It won't be bad for it to eat them. If you don't mind them being eaten, it's fine. It's not good for the platties or tetras though.

I don't see a problem with the cats, assuming they're over 3".
