Went to a LFS today and got my first Black Ghost Knife.

It was 6" long for 20 bucks but in the tank next to it for the same price and size they had a Clown Knife as well. It took me almost an hour to choose and in the end I only picked the BGK because I figured it would eat the same things that my Bichirs eat (Bloodworms and the like).

Now I'll never know what it would've been like if I had gotten the other...

Anyway, so which one would you choose?

I would choose both... because i have both ..but i think you were smarter to get the BGK since he does not need a tank as large as a Clown knife.. Ck's can grow 2 feet or more.. and alot faster.. how big are your bichirs because the BGK is delicate when young and somewhat shy so give him a cave to hide in..

I figured he'd be too big too, even though the lady there said he'd only get to 8"...

They even had baby BGKs at this place for 10 bucks each but I figured I'd be safer with getting the larger one.

My biggest is a Senegal whose at about the same length. The albino I have is smaller and I have two Ropes now who are a bit larger but it really doesn't count.

Oh and yeah I have some plants in the tank I have but I also have one of those long plastic see-through tubes for him.

She was just trying to make a sale.

To most LFS stores I visit or ones I buy fish from I always ask them real specific questions like - What are you feeding this fish? How big does it get? What type of tank should I have for it? - Just so I can see if the seller actually took care of it or not.

This particular shop isn't that bad, they almost always have things like Arowanas and some hard to find stuff like Albino Bichirs but I guess this lady was just new.

Also good luck on that big tank, that's going to be totally awesome man!
