i need some help guys, i just got a bgk and he is swimming a little odd and bumping into stuff constantly. hes only maybe 2.5 inches so i was wondering if this is normal for a baby or what? he seems to be trying really hard to swim and sometimes his tail drags. help me all knowing fish people!!!

They do have erractic swimming behavior, but shouldn't be bumping into stuff.

That seems small... Are you sure about the size?
You have a hard time believing that a BGK could be 2.5"?

he is maybe 3 in tops. ill post a pic in a sec. it seems like somethings wrong with him but idk what it is! i guess i will give him a few days to get over the stress of being brought home and see if he perks up but i have an african brown knife and he has never acted like this in the 2 years ive had him. i want to help the little guy! any suggestions on what to do?

he lays on his side some too but he hasnt been doing that as much. idk whats wrong and what these symptoms could be from.

Everywhere I have seen them they are much larger. Also when I got mine he was a nice size. About 4-5 inches maybe and little on the fuller side.
I'm just surprised he is so small. You should put him in a tank by himself. Until he acts different.

temp 80 am:0 Nitri:0 nitra:.5ppm tank is a 32 growout with a 1.5 in severum and 1in jag. its not my tank or water, tankmates have not bothered him in the least, but he was like this right when i got him. ive been waiting for 4 months to get one and this was the first and only one that has came in so i felt obligated to get him. he looks physically healthy minus a small scrape from a rock in the petsmart tank.

Are the other fish picking on him? Other than that, idk it could be from a problem in Petsmart's tank and ended up stressing him out too much.

no the other fish dont even acknowledge him. is there anything to do to help unstress him? i know good water conditions help and i put some stress zyme to heal the spot on his back. i guess ill give him time and hopefully he will heal and grow.
